Tami's Top Issues for 2008

aHelp neighborhoods in House District 21 be safer and their
residents protected.
aWork hard on the Iowa Advantage Fund, a bill which provides
tax credits to employers who help students stay in Iowa for jobs
by helping pay down their student loans. This is an important
step in encouraging the graduates of our state to stay here, as
well as providing businesses with ample access to new
employees.
aMake sure students come first. We need to encourage
parents and family members to become more involved in their
children’s education and focus on ways to help Regents and
community college tuition costs.
aMake healthcare more affordable so Iowa’s middle class
families, seniors, and businesses who are all feeling the pinch of
receiving health care, are offered some relief.
aBe a watchdog for homeowners. Encourage meaningful
change to Iowa’s property tax system to curb the skyrocketing
cost being forced on homeowners.
aEliminate out-of-control spending and budget increases. After
voting against the measure to increase state spending 21
percent over the next two years, Wiencek will work to offer
legislation that reigns in big government spending and
eliminates waste.
